Enrollment

  •  Where can I find information about the academic departments at UFSC?

  • Where can I find UFSC academic calendar?

  •  How can I ask for a leave of absence?

 You can only ask for a leave of absence after completing your first semester of studies. You may be on leave for up to two years. If you don’t enroll after this period, your enrollment at UFSC will be canceled. The rules for taking leaves of absence are available in section V of Resolution no. 17/CUn/97.

University Restaurant

  •  How do I access the University Restaurant (RU)?

You will need to issue an identification card at the Restaurant. This can be done online following the instructions provided here.  You will then be able to load your card with the desired amount.  The price per meal is R$1.50. 

  • How do I request exemption from the RU fee?

Economically vulnerable students, whose socioeconomic registration has been approved by the Prorectorate for Student Affairs and Retention (PRAE), may request exemption from the University Restaurant fee. This exemption is valid for one semester and must be requested again in the next semester, following the rules provided by PRAE. 

University Library 

  • What are the University Library (BU)’s opening hours?

The Central Library (BC) is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 10 pm. Its Individual Study Room is also open on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, from 8 am to 6 pm, during academic terms. For the opening hours of other libraries on campus, click here.

  • How do I register for the Library?

Students must go to the loan desk at the Central Library or a Branch Library and present an official photo ID to register their password. Students taking single courses must also present their certificate of enrollment. The library password is personal and non-transferable. All loans and/or services obtained with your password are your sole responsibility. The BU general rules are available here.

Study Support

  • I’m struggling to organize my studies at the University. Where can I find help?

UFSC has an Institutional Program for Educational Support to Students (PIAPE) that offers support in the following subjects: Pre-Calculus, Calculus 1, Calculus 2, Analytical Geometry, Linear Algebra, Physics 1, Physics 2, Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Anatomy, Reading and Text Production, Computer Science, Statistics and Pedagogical Guidance. Student Exchange

  • Can I apply for an exchange program in my first semester?

No. As a prerequisite to apply for the UFSC exchange program, it is necessary to have completed at least 40% of the undergraduate studies at the beginning of the exchange program. Other application requirements include: be dully enrolled at UFSC, from the time of application to the time of return from the studies abroad; have good academic performance, according to criteria established by the student’s undergraduate program; and submit the application through UFSC online application system.
